Four Winds is a specialist in the overall project organization. We provide not only the dog, but a total product. A lot of time and experience is needed to create a good K9 unit with a high level of results. Four Winds offers the opportunity to achieve this.

The start of the creation of an entirely new K9 unit begins with the housing and accommodation. Four Winds advises in the development of a new kennel or the renovation of an existing kennel building. There is also the possibility to supply the materials such as;

• Feed mills and feed pans
• Night cabins
• Special cleaners
• Hose Reels
We also provide training materials for K9 units;
• Collars, leashes, and lines
• Muzzles
• Special search and tracking harnesses
• Patrol / bite suits
• Special pvc search pipes
• Brush Sets

All dogs come standard in a good quality transport crates that are used for transportation in the aircraft. But mainly in countries with an extreme climate, we recommend the specially developed vehicles to purchase with high quality RVS dog kennels. The dogs have to work hard and especially with hot temperatures, it is important that the dogs get a chance to cool off. We can deliver different types of cooling vehicles. Everything can be adapted to the customer’s wish and the needs for the dogs.

The training of the dogs is done in total at our training and various other locations in the Netherlands. After training is completed, the new handlers will be educated to work with the trained dogs. We start with a basic handler course of at least two to three weeks, especially with inexperienced handlers. This can take place at our training center in the Netherlands and on location abroad.

If the basic course is completed, it is possible to certify the dog teams by an international independent organization called the IPWDA (International Police Working Dog Association). This is possible in the Netherlands or the designated foreign location and depends on the customer. For more information regarding the certification please click the IPWDA logo.

Especially with all-new K9 units and inexperienced handlers it is very important that the training continues. Some handlers shall be selected to be trained to team leader so that in future the dog teams continue to function properly.

This training takes time and experience and we therefore recommend following several courses to create a highly educated, high-functioning K9 unit.
